Bengali Students Association
About
Our general meetings are biweekly on Wednesdays at LSC (Room:201AB) from 9:15 to 10:15 pm! COME MEET US!
The Bengali Students Association, established in 1997, focuses on uniting the Bengali community here at Rutgers University. The organization illustrates the diverse cultures of Bengali communities worldwide. Through dance, song, discussions, and various public events, the association will expose other cultures to our own rich culture. It is thus our goal to maintain such exposure and strengthen the sense of Bengali identity. With these aims, we strive not only to share our culture with others, but also help to establish our own identity, educate others, and preserve the Bengali culture, extending within and beyond the University's borders.
BSA has various events throughout the year. We hold at least 1-2 events each semester. Previously BSA has hosted events such as Holud Raat, a student event showcasing the cultural traditions of Bengali pre-wedding ceremonies, Charity Formal, a student formal hosted to give back to our community, and Bengali New Year (BNY), a family-student event to celebrate the Bengali New Year and culture. These events allow our Rutgers students to come together and learn more about the Bengali culture, showcase their talents of acting, singing, dancing, and comedy through performances, and most importantly find a group of people to eventually bond with.
